One unfortunate aspect of shareholder advocacy is that the company towards which the advocacy is directed will often defend against the advocacy sought by using shareholder funds. Cost-effective advocacy is therefore critical to maximizing shareholder value.
I often first work directly with the company where change is desired by shareholders. Only after easier pathways fail do I seek to resort to more expensive and confrontational paths. This implies that shareholders will rarely achieve everything they desire through my advocacy, but hopefully one or more of the critical things they need.
Advocacy for me is about the company and its future prospects. It is not about the past. If you believe that management of a company has done something illegal or immoral, I would love to hear from you. However, my advocacy will likely be limited to trying to put the company on a better future path. If you want someone to go to jail for their conduct, you will need someone other than me to help you.
You can view selected past results from my advocacy by selecting the named tabs at the top or bottom of this page. Selected current advocacy efforts are included as well.
